I'm often asked, "So do you think a war is coming?" I hope not, but I believe the key to understanding the timing of the next war lies with the timing of when the Iranian Bushehr reactor will become operational. Russian Prime Minister Vladmir Putin [former head of the KGB] said the reactor is scheduled to go online in August of 2010! So why is this important? Well, let's take a look at history…
In 1981, when former Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin ordered the destruction of the nuclear reactor in Iraq with a surprise air strike called Operation Babylon — it took Ronald Reagan by surprise. Begin reasoned with Reagan (according to Ronald Reagan Diaries) that the reactor needed to be destroyed before they received plutonium from France. Israel had waited as long as possible, but Begin believed he couldn't wait any longer. What was his concern? If the Iraqi nuclear reactor was operational, then a strike would have created a radiation fallout that would have reached Baghdad.
Then in 2007, when Israel struck the hidden reactor in Syria in Operation Orchard, they did so to prevent the reactor from coming online.
So a brief look in modern history suggests that Israel will not allow the reactor in Bushehr to go online.
Why? If the reactor was actually allowed to start and Israel decides to strike after it is already online — then Israel would be condemned throughout the world for causing a nuclear fallout resulting in widespread death among civilians. But more importantly, if Israel allows the reactor to go online it would be asking for the proliferation of nuclear weapons to be in the hands of a country known to support the annihilation of Israel.
According to the Nuclear Control Institute, if Iran were to withdraw from the Nonproliferation Treaty and renounce the agreement with Russia, the Bushehr reactor could produce a quarter ton of plutonium per year, which is enough for at least 30 atomic bombs [a year] – Source: Global Security.
When a nation is birthed out of the holocaust…it truly understands the evil it faces — while the world is just starting to get it. Do you really believe Israel will allow this nuclear power plant to come online — especially when the leaders of Iran are calling for Israel destruction?
